Individual membership categories

Student member

Aged 16 or over and studying (full or part time) for a Level 3 accredited qualification which is relevant to the areas of sports development, sports management or sports administration.

Affiliate

A person who is not professionally qualified, but has an active interest in the objectives of CIMSPA and the sector.

Associate

CIMSPA associate membership is the gateway to professional success by attainment of a Level 3 qualification relative to the sector.

Member

Active in the management of sport and physical activity services, with 3 years' sector experience and an understanding of the importance of continuing professional development (CPD), full membership of CIMSPA is the hallmark of a qualified and experienced professional.

Fellow

CIMSPA fellows will have a combination of 10 years' sector experience and will have attained a senior position in the industry with a commitment to CPD.

Companion

Awarded by invitation only for a significant contribution to the sector and CIMSPA's objectives.

Chartered member/Chartered fellow

The mark of an experienced and qualified professional in the sector, who has met the ongoing requirements of the Institute's formal continuing professional development programme.

Retired

CIMSPA provides a membership category for those who wish to maintain their links with the sector after retirement.

Personal assessment

An experience-based application process will apply to those who may not fit neatly into one of the above categories.

Skills Development Partner

For schools, further and higher education colleges, universities, national governing bodies of sport and other training providers

Corporate Partner

For local authorities, leisure trusts and private sector facility operators

Registered Supplier

For commercial companies supplying products and services to the sector
